Rocco Webb 2024 Update
Rocco Webb has been sponsored through St Andrews Management Centre’s Developing Futures scheme since 2022. It has been wonderful to watch him developing his skills as he pursues his goal of becoming a professional speedway rider. We were delighted to receive an update on his progress this season and to find out his plans for the coming year.
“Rocco has had a busy and successful 2024 season. He competed in the British Youth Championship open class 125cc. This was made up of six rounds at Workington, Redcar, Belle Vue, Leicester, Armadale, and Glasgow.
In five of these rounds he secured a podium place, finishing 3rd in four of them and 2nd in one, overall taking the podium 3rd to crown him bronze and 3rd place in the championship for 2024. A fantastic achievement for stepping up to that class this season.
He also competed in the Northern Junior League securing his team spot again with the West Lothian Wildcats for the 2nd year. In addition to this he raced in guest spots for other teams including Redcar Cubs, Armadale Angels and Ashfield Giants.
One of his highlights would be riding at the Ben Fund at Workington where he raced two Junior races within a meeting of world class riders.
This season he has benefited from training days with professional speedway riders Scott Nicholls, Leon Flint, and Kevin Little.
Moving on to 2025 Rocco will be taking the leap on to the 500cc. He has his two coaches who have been with him since day one, David McAllan and Sean Stoddart (both ex speedway riders), progressing him on to the next stage of his journey. He wouldn’t be where he is without them.
He has his Dad (mechanic, driver, guide, shoulder) in his pits and tirelessly working on his bikes. They are some team and really do experience the highs and lows together, progressing and learning as a team for the last three years.
Rocco expects a lot of travel to get his laps in wherever he can, attending amateur events and some British Youth rounds to keep him racing whilst learning his track craft in 2025.
His focus is to be ready for when he turns 15 in 2026 and hopes to be lucky enough to secure a team spot in the Northern Junior League and, if progressed enough the National Development League, which are now the stepping stones to him reaching that goal of becoming a professional speedway rider.”
