STAMC Directors Chartered Fellows of the CMI

Congratulations to STAMC Directors Rick Bond and Jeff Lockhart who have both achieved Chartered Manager status and have now become Fellows of the Chartered Management Institute, the CMI.

Chartered Manager status recognises individuals who have demonstrated exceptional management and leadership skills. As the only Management & Leadership professional body backed by Royal Charter, the CMI is solely responsible for the awarding of Chartered Manager status. In addition to demonstrating their management and leadership skills, Chartered Managers have also displayed an ongoing commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

For Rick and Jeff, becoming Chartered Fellows of the CMI marks and important recognition of both of their careers in management and leadership:

“It is about recognition. The qualifications achieved throughout our careers demonstrates knowledge acquired but the Chartered Management status is recognition that we consistently put these high standards, theories and principles into practice. As training providers, it is also an important recognition that we practice what we preach, and that learning is a lifelong experience and commitment” said Jeff Lockhart

Rick Bond added, “Becoming a Chartered Fellow of the CMI is a pinnacle of achievement after many years managing people, teaching, studying and undertaking various qualifications to further my understanding of Leadership and Management. This is an affirmation as well as an accreditation and it is a true honour to have achieved it.”

Not only does this mark an important development achievement but it also marks a milestone in Rick and Jeff’s professional relationship and friendship. Rick and Jeff met each other at an East of Scotland CMI event at a time when Jeff was Vice Chair of CMI Scotland and Rick was Head of Faculty at Elmwood College, a CMI centre. Seeing in each other similar values and approaches to work, they kept in touch and developed a friendship which, in 2013, eventually led to the establishment of St Andrews Management Centre. For the past 11 years, teaching Management and Leadership skills to STAMC’s learners has been their passion and has allowed them to further develop their own skills. It seems poignant that CMI has now recognised both of their efforts as STAMC moves onto its own next chapter, as a CMI centre.
